Let your gorgeous Shavuos floral centerpieces inspire you for colorful and vibrant summer dressing.

We all love to have flowers on our Yom Tov tables…but on Shavuos we especially love to put extra care into our arrangements and create beautiful and colorful tablescapes. Here are a couple of fabulous and easy ideas for your table and some fashion inspired by them. It’s easy to go crazy with flowers but in fashion we sometimes feel afraid to be daring with color. Here are ways to incorporate color combinations inspired by flowers and make them work in a flattering way.

Look # 1

Blue and White Traditionalism

For this tablescape gather together any blue and white ceramic containers you may have in your home, or you can easily purchase several at your local Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Home Goods for almost nothing! A minimum of 3 containers in different shapes and sizes should be used for this look. Odd numbers a more visually appealing than even ones.

Purchase several bouquets of 3 different types of white flowers at your local grocery store or farmers market. Try to choose flowers in different shapes and sizes like the hydrangeas, tulips and poppies used in this arrangement. Simply place the flowers by type in to the vases and arrange on your table into a visually appealing tablescape. Simple white or off white china and crystal look best with this arrangement and keep with the traditional feel.

In fashion one the easiest ways to bring your wardrobe into the summer is by incorporating a crisp white blouse with a feminine design with a fresh and pretty blue skirt in a summery pattern or texture.

Finish you look with gorgeous azure chandelier earrings and a pair of fabulous platform heels. You will feel like a summer afternoon dream!

Look #2

Fresh Organic Modernism

For this simple centerpiece all you need is a rectangular glass vase, straw, raffia and leaves from your local craft store, one dozen white roses, 2 or 3 green hydrangeas, a bunch of green stems and several large flat green leaves.

Fill the vase with water, add some straw and arrange cinnamon sticks artfully. Trim the bunch of roses, tie with a rubber band and place them in the vase. Trim the hydrangeas and wedge them into one side of the roses. Trim the green stems and wedge them diagonally into the other side of the vase. Fold a couple of green leaves in half and wedge under the roses. Tuck a bit more of the straw or raffia into the vase under the hydrangeas. Don’t worry about being perfect, the look is supposed to be organic and natural.

In fashion you can emulate this feel by sticking with a palette of beiges, creams, ecrus and taupes while adding a touch of sage green for a naturally complimenting pop of color. When using neutrals don’t worry about matching perfectly especially if you use 3 or more shades in your outfit. Mixing texture and pattern is also a way to add interest to natural colors. Accessorize with two tone flats, a stack of wood and lucite bangles, and a whimsical green accented straw bag. You will feel chic and cool as a fresh breeze.
