A Prayer for Parents

June 2nd, 2011 Print

In today’s world we can never daven enough that our children should grow into fine and upright G-d fearing Jews who lead joyous and fulfilling lives.

There is a special custom from the Shelah HaHadosh, though, for parents to recite a prayer specifically today, Thursday, the day before Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

The reason for this is that Sivan is the month when Hashem gave us the Torah and when the Jewish people began to be called His Children.

The holy Shelah writes that on Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan fathers and mothers should say this prayer, give charity to the poor and repent.
