Fondue for Tu
January 17th, 2011 PrintI hereby petition that chocolate is worthy of Seven-Species-Status. Do you agree?
In my opinion the standard Tu B’Shvat dried fruit platter is simply screaming “Dip me in chocolate!”
Here’s the logic: Since Dellinut spread (the cholov yisrael equivilent of Nutella) is made with hazelnuts… which grow on trees… I think this fondue recipe is absolutely apropriate for Tu B’shvat!
And if you don’t have a fondue set you’ll be happy to know I found the dish pictured below in Christmas Tree Shops. Its actually a butter warmer and costs $3 for 2.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup whipping cream
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup Hazelnut Chocolate Spread
Directions:
Heat the cream in a small saucepan until steaming but not boiling. Remove from heat and add the chocolate and hazelnut spread. Let sit for a few minutes and the stir until smooth. Serve in a fondue pot set over a tea light to keep warm.
Happy dipping!
