Snickerdoodles
December 31st, 2010 PrintThanks to Rivki Savitsky of Brooklyn, NY for sharing this recipe adapted from The Food Network.
Ingredients:
Topping-
5 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dough-
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
- Mix sugar and cinnamon for the topping and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- To make the cookie dough, stir together the dry ingredients. Cream the margarine with the sugar and continue to mix, then add the eggs 1 at a time, corn syrup, and vanilla, and mix thoroughly. Add the dry ingredients and mix until blended. If the dough is sticky you can chill it before forming the cookies.
- Make walnut size balls of dough then roll them in the cinnamon sugar to coat. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet 2 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until puffed up and the surface is slightly cracked. Let cool slightly in pan before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Yields 40 cookies.

they were delic!! great recipe
I have made these cookies twice and they keep burning on the bottom before they are done on top. Any suggestions?
Lauren, maybe adjust your oven and try starting with a cooler oven and a ‘silver colored’ cookie sheet rather than a darker one. We’ve made these cookies 100s of times and never had that problem. Hope you have better luck!
