Edible Dreidel Crafts

November 30th, 2010 Print

Forget making dreidels out of clay (does anyone actually do that?) These would be fun to make with students, or as a Chanukah party activity.

How about Shin Newtons?

Cut the corners from one end of a fig bar to form a point. Insert a thin pretzel stick into the other end. With frosting, outline the cookies and write the letters.

Or Marshmallow Dreidels?

These are made out of squared marshmallows (trim sides to make the square shape) dipped into nonpareils. Attach nonpareil chocolates for the tip with a dab of melted chocolate. Thread them onto wooden skewers.

Chocolate Dipped Marshmallow Dreidels

Here the handles are thin pretzel sticks and the tip is a chocolate kiss (For a chalav yisrael alternative our hunch is an Ostreicher cookie would be the perfect shape). Dip in melted chocolate and using icing, pipe nun, gimmel, hey, and shin.

I like the shin newtons. We are planning on making the marshmallow ones and chalk draidels. We’ve already made felt latkes and sufganiyot and a hand print clay menorah (pictures at the site above.)

    Thanks!
