Facebook Updates You Should Know About
April 23rd, 2010 Print
If you are on Facebook you may have noticed some tweaks to your account this week. These are part of Facebook’s vision to make the internet even more social-oriented by stretching its reach to many other websites. The following is a short list of the changes Facebook is integrating.
Like Buttons:
You will start seeing Facebook-looking “like” or “recommend” buttons with a thumbs-up icon on them on many websites. When you click one, it will be posted to your Facebook news feed and your friends’ will see that you liked that product, article, photo, etc. Content you “like” will also become part of your profile.
Logging In:
You won’t need to log-in to the each site to “like” something. If you have logged into Facebook recently, it will keep you logged in.
Friends’ Pics:
Because of the “like” feature you might now see your friends’ Facebook profile picture on many websites if they have “liked” something on that page.
Toolbar
Facebook will try and get as many websites as possible to put a Facebook tool bar on the bottom of their web pages. The toolbar will let you “like” a particular web page or item, and gives you information about what your friends think of the page you’re viewing. You can also chat with friends who are currently logged in to Facebook without having to go back to the Facebook site.
Privacy
Who sees what you “like” and dislike can still be controlled by you. In Facebook click the “account” tab on the top right, then “privacy settings” and then go to “profile information.” Check the “likes and interests” setting. If you have that set to “everyone,” then anyone on the Internet could see which Web pages you have liked.
Lastly, show your friends that you have great taste by becoming a fan of or “like” Savvima on Facebook.
Even better, when on the Savvima page, click on “Suggest to Friends” on the top left, under the logo, and help us spread the word!
