Observant Couples Enjoy Better Marriages
February 22nd, 2010 PrintOne
might think that the marriages of young observant Jewish couples would be more challenging than those of the general population due to the extra stressors that we are blessed with. We have lots of children that are close in age, pay exorbitant tuition costs, have expensive grocery needs, are limited with recreational options, and have scarce amounts of time for it all.
Surprisingly, or perhaps not, a new study conducted by the Orthodox Union, called the Aleinu Marital Satisfaction Survey found that a higher percentage of Jewish observant couples rated their marriages as “very good” or “excellent” than the public at large.
The survey found that the biggest challenges that face us are, predictably, financial strain, lack of communication and not enough time together. Click here for a PDF of the actual survey results.
